A couple of times when I just switch on ignition I get "Alternator Fault" message.
Starts fine, message disappears, runs fine and no "book" fault appears.
Haven't run Faultmate yet.
Alternator replaced about 1k miles ago.
Any comments/advice ?

My attention seeking rangie gives me the same message as well as ABS fault. I think it's down to low battery volts.

Check all the connections to the alternator. Make sure they are clean and firm.

Thanks Wammers : checked & they were OK. A full overnight charge on the battery seems to have done the trick.
For my education , why are P38's so hard on batteries ( or is it sensitive to diminishing power in the battery ?)

Very sensitive to diminished power. The systems do not like low voltages.
