So...I'm going to the store this morning, I get out of the car and "lock" the doors...The automatic locking wasn't working...I get back in and the usual beeps(ABS FAULT, TRACTION FAULT, SEAT BELT BEEP) aren't going...All of the sudden this time ALTERNATOR FAULT!? My headlights/taillights are flashing, interior lights are stuck on...Radio works fine. I went to the nearest parts store and had my alternator tested. It read fine and it was charging...This ever happen to anyone? Also when I turned the car off "DIAGNOSTICS MODE" flashed on the message centre. Any help would be greatly appreciated

You either have a loose connection somewhere, like an earth wire or something a dodgy fusebox OR, most likely, a dying battery.

You say you usually get all those errors when you startup??

Im guessing your battery is on its last legs.

When did the error messages start??

Check the main earth lead from the battery, follow its route and look for corrosion of any kind or loose connections.

Check the positive cable from the alternator and also the cable to the fusebox.

Open the fusebox and check/smell for any signs or burning, look out for burnt relays etc. Im still thinking its something simple, have you not even bothered to get the ABS and Traction fault messages checked out??

earth lead once popped off on my p38 and caused it to need the eka code. try not to remove any of the power cables if you can help it if you dont have yr code. if you need to take cable off then try and get a jump lead to keep power flowing while you disconnect.

Problem fixed!! It was the ground wire on the alternator. Put in a new one, and all problems fixed!(except my normal ABS and TC FAULT) and I haven't had them checked out. I wanna keep it away from the dealer, so I'm looking for suggestions on ways to erase the faults...

You won't erase faults without the diagnostic machine. You may be able to fix your problem which will make the messages dissapear but without knowing what the faults are you wont even know where to start.

Why not goto a local specialist with the correct diagnostic kit??

Well...I would love to, but I'm in the US and I haven't found a shop in my area that specializes in Land Rover...The only ones I've talked to refer me to the Land Rover dealership. I called the LR dealership, and they quoted me $100 to even look at it, then they charge a certain amount for each computer they hook it up to.
