Well I made it to the Nationals at Copford farm. it was a good drag down there (190 miles) but we had a good weekend away. Saw old friends, talked Land Rovers and did the CCV.
I didn't do any good in the CCV but that was to be expected after not trialing for 28 years and in a new motor. The event organisation was superb and we had blast.
only minor damage to the motor, bumper was the worst of it and I ran both wings into trees, neither of them broke so looks like Diolin works.
Pic is it jet washed and back on the truck. other pic ia about 1/3rd of the camp site. If I get any trialing pics I will put them up

A few pic's from the national. The mud hole in the team recovery was errm muddy.

Bet the new motor got some admirers. :) (thought I'd already posted this, but it hasn't turned up)

Can't find a reference to Diolin in your thread - wot is it?
Actually it is Diolen and is a fabric that I used in the front wings. The lay up is the same as Slalom conoe's ( E cloth and Diolen) which are made to bounce over rocks. I bashed the drivers side wing into a big tree, it bent the bumper back into the tire and bounced the car sideways. I was sure the wing would be broken but no. Diolen has similar properties to Kevlar, just the modulus is lower.

Thanks Owl - quite surprised that I hadn't heard the name before because I've seen the stuff in use!

Was a great weekend! Owl we never really caught up I said a quick hello while you were CCVing but you were mad busy at the lower end of the site with all those pesky slippery climbs up and down the steep hill with the small river at the bottom and large tree!! ( this could probably explain half of the site like this) myself and Ed was going to have a look over your masterpiece but we ended up in the beer tent on the first night. I rocked up Friday night and before scruteneering I noticed a rear caliper was damp. Had a look at the brake pipe and it was ever so slightly weeping had a wiggle and it was peeing out. Ed took me to get some pipe and after a doubious field flare I had brakes back that I would be happy to stand on. I put it through scruteneering and was ready for Sat. The Beer tent was calling after that! Who knew all you need to make a field brake pipe flare is a defender fuse box screw and a drilled female fitting and plenty of patience! We had suggestions from ptfe tape to epoxy resin but brakes shouldn't be bodged! The thing was I picked up the on vehicle flaring tool before I left and was like nah we won't need that. It's now taking residence in the tool box!

Stutab and kills joules were in a different group to me RTVing but I hear Stuart needs his brakes fixing as he drove into the CCV tow motor (hehe sorry Stu only joking) the guy stopped and stu well he didn't! I think Killajoules came away with a class trophy too!!

Great event well run! Southern did a great event!

I came 41st overall in RTV but drove terrible!

Can't wait til next year we are laying out at Stainby again.

Rock on some practice before then and hopefully do better than 41st!

Hiya Owl, Sorry I missed you at Copford. I did pop up on the Saturday afternoon and said hello to the caravan but just heard a small dog barking from within!
The trialler looked pukka.
Stutab and I were down on the last row of the lower field overlooking the refuelling point.

Lol, no trophy, there were only 4 class 1s (2 of them were me and djdommyp) so they only gave out 1st and 2nd place trophies !!

As for the other 2 80s they were really caged triallers rather than a fairly standard S1, one of them was actually an 80/86" hybrid with spring hangers for both positions!

Had a fantastic weekend talking bollocks et al with Ed n Jai and all those othetr folk we always meet at a National

Great pics Joules I'm jealous never managed to get any all weekend. I must say it was a really chilled weekend after the first night. Great company and good competition. I was slightly miffed that I was the only motor in my group that had no cage fitted.

Yes Jai it was a great event, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend. Sounds like you had fun and next time you can borrow my brake flaring tool and pressure bleeder lol.
We had fun in the CCV, Ken powell navigated for me. We had an ign coil go down on the first two sections resulting in scoring about 20. We fixed that which was one of the new connectors I had fitted then we got lost on a few sections and the points racked up, through in a rusty driver, well you get the picture. But as said we had fun and on Monday ken won the Comp again so a great weekend.
I am looking forwards to next year, I have a year to practice and get some sort of form.
I also found an air leak on the inlet manifold since getting home which is now fixed and it is running much better. Ken had a drive in it and says he thinks it will be fast.

Just round the corner from me, I saw your motor but didn't twig it was you. A shame we didn't meet up. The Mrs had a bad cold which started the day we got there so we didn't get out and about as much as I would of liked. however Deb enjoyed the weekend and wants to go to our clubs next CCV which is this Sunday.
