Weirdness continues with my Alpine Entertainment system.

Sometimes works, but has not been working recently when I am driving completely dead.

When I switch off and remove key, I can then click the "On" and it will power up (I assume on that 30 mins use, you get for passengers!), but the buttons do nothing, I can't then switch it off.

I have to switch the ignition on then to off, to then kill the Radio.

I have removed almost all the damp from the car now, been checking the leak under the drivers kick panel, just a few drips in there now, not flooded like before.

Any hints? Or is the Alpine dieing ?

Unless there is something really odd going on with the wiring in the car, it is probably a problem in the radio. Assuming that it is caused by damp, could you take the radio out of the car and put it somewhere warm and dry for a day or two (airing cupboard)? Trusting that you have the radio code, of course!

As above.:)

Don't know if it's a similar problem to what i am getting ?. But my 2001 went in for an MOT two weeks back and they had to fit a new jet wash motor(they said the new one was not quite the same and had to do a small re-wire) When i picked the car up,even before i left their car park i noticed my Alpine radio was doing the same thing,ie the buttons did not work the radio cd or tape.It was on and sound came out from the radio but there was no way of changing channels or cd/tape....However i could from the steering wheel ?

Take it back, you NEVER rewire anything on a P38, they should have fitted the correct motor.

Mmmmm yes they have now but the radio still does not work?? Don't know why they fitted a diff one to start with as the correct one was only £8 more?

Thanks, it is powering up now CD and radio is working. Can't select station 1,2 and 3. I suspect it is still damp. Was going to remove it and put in linen cupboard, but as car is drying out it seems to be as well!

So they have fecked something messing about:eek: If you have the radio code and EKA code you could try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

It will dry slowly if you have the aircon on, airing cupboard is quicker:)

LOL, you are right, I am being lazy. I have purchased some a demidifier crystals, which have helped removed the damp. The last water under the drivers door kick panel is coming from the spongey bit in the drivers carpet. It is drying. The leak must have been sealed now. Pollen filters I am guessing.

I'm lucky, I have a good size dehumidifier for the workshop, dries cars out a treat in about 48 hours:)
