Hello, Could some kind sole educate me a little please. I drove about a mile this morning to a car park in our village and as I stopped to reverse into a space all of a sudden I thought the car was on fire, suddenly smoke was appearing from the front of the car it was frightening. I got out immediately and saw that it was coming from a pipe that is situated on the inside of the nearside front wheel under the car behind the front bumper if that makes sense it looks like some sort of escape pipe or an overflow pipe. I switched off the engine for no more than a couple of minutes then restarted the engine and all was normal.
This is the second time that this has happened, the first time was when I stated my car a couple of months ago outside of my home although the smoke was not anywhere near as severe on this ocassion I switched off for a few moments and restarted and all was ok up until now. Could anyone please enlighten me as to what this pipe is for and why smoke poured out of it this is twice now. Is it dangerous and do I have to replace anything?
Thanking you for any response in anticipation
Rob.
