Hi all
Just got myself a 97 Disco 300tdi and although this is the 6th 4x4 i've owned it's the first one i've had chance to mod.

This weekend i will be fitting:

Winch bumper
Steering guard
Rock sliders
Diff guards
2" lift (springs and shocks)
265/75/R16 Insa turbo special track
Snorkle

Is there anything else you would advise me getting before i start doing some fairly heavy off-roading / greenlaning.

All comments would be welcomed as i'm new to the off-road side of things and don't want to go out un-prepaired.

Also i'm from leics and if there's anyone going greenlaning/off-roading around here that doesn't mind an extra truck tagging along for the day please IM me as i would love to join some expericenced drivers while i get the hang of it.

Hope to speak/see some of you soon

Aje

i'm not from your area but you may want to give the disco a complete service and all over inspection before you go green laning/off roading. just to make sure your not gonna end up getting stranded with something broke that you can't fix in the field.

oh and welcome to the mad house

welcome to on ere :)

well hats off mate, get all the new bits glued on yer disco, good service and check then get it all muddy and see what its capable of ;)

Thanks for the posts
Guess i'll get the service parts on order then. Also, will a "camel cut" be enough or should i go nuts and fit plastic arches?? It's a bit more chopping than i wanted to do but if it would be much better i would rather do it now than do it later after i had bent something???

right first up learn what is acceptable behaviour on a green lane!!! i have seen too many people tearing them up going off track recently! its still a PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY drive like a cock and expect to have yer car crushed by the police! then the lane will be shut by the council and then nobody can use it!

second go driving with someone who knows how to offroad! a days learning how to do it properly can save you looking like a prat when you are stuck and a little old dear on a mobility scooter goes through the track you just failed to drive!

third don't buy stuff from britpart

if yer tyres dont stick out that much dont bother with them plastic arches, i just cut about 50mm off all the way round and left it at that! saves the £170 for rip off arches

sort of depends on the wheels your using?
you may need to trim the front bumper too but i cant see this too much as your running standard heigh just a wider 265 all depends really wait to you have them fitted and go from there as for arches i cant see you needing them (and the look butch wen the wheels stick out past the arch even if mr mot man diss-agrees) and its less to rip off while off roading:D
