Hi all, and happy Christmas

Been playing with me all comms today to find the fault with the parking sensors and it came up with

L322 Parking Assist Module Query Results: Performed on 28/12/2013 13:26:10
L322 Communications Performed by RSWsolutions - All Comms Software.
Sending Parking Assist Module Communications.
You Should See Alternating Tx and Rx Signals.
Returned Info Bytes : 8
Initial Connection Complete.
Reading Parking Assist Module Faults.
0x1 0x0001 Rear left ultrasonic sensor.

Would it actually say inner if the inner had gone or do I just replace both.

Many thanks
Kaz

It's probably not the sensor broken it's 99% a broken wire / harness behind the bumper that connects to the sensors

errrr Good Question....no idea, never had a PDC issue...

It has narrowed it down to two....Rear Left Now switch the PDC system on and get your ear close to the sensors in question...you should hear a ver y faint clicking sound.....if not - Bust!

eeerrrr all 4 are ticking....... after I done the test I cleared faults so does that mean it has cleared the problem, the light on the switch flashes but no long beep what done this mean

cheers guys

+1 to Hippo....

The PDC ECU is a known Fail Item (like most of things on the L322 !!)

Because the Diagnostics only reads what the ECU tells it too...if the ECU has lost its marbles it could be giving you a spurious error message ....

Diagnostics is only ever part of the fault finding...

Ok I will swop over the sensors tomorrow and give it a go weather permitting.

Cheers

Ok I emailed Storey last night and this is what he came back with, if you have the all comms you need to keep this.

These are the potential faults for the Parking module.

'0x1 0x0001 Rear left ultrasonic sensor.
'0x10 0x0010 Distance sensor.
'0x11 0x0011 Parking Aid switch.
'0x12 0x0012 Microcomputer.
'0x2 0x0002 Rear right ultrasonic sensor.
'0x3 0x0003 Rear centre left ultrasonic sensor.
'0x4 0x0004 Rear centre right ultrasonic sensor.
'0x5 0x0005 Front left ultrasonic sensor.
'0x6 0x0006 Front right ultrasonic sensor.
'0x7 0x0007 Front centre left ultrasonic sensor.
'0x8 0x0008 Front centre right ultrasonic sensor.
'0x9 0x0009 Ultrasonic sensor voltage.
'0xA 0x000A Rear sounder off.
'0xB 0x000B Rear sounder on.
'0xC 0x000C Front sounder off.
'0xD 0x000D Front sounder on.
'0xE 0x000E Switch LED off.
'0xF 0x000F Switch LED on.

Hope this helps guys.

great work....

the legend that is Storey Wilson is a very helpful chap.

Ok, changed the sensor with a brand new one and it is still the same, done the test again and cleared faults, all sensors ticking, moved the truck forward and then backwards and the dreaded beep and flashing light came on. I checked the wiring condition whilst I was there but didn't do a continuity test (ticking though) but visually looks ok

I am right in saying Rear left is our near side ? I haven't changed the wrong side have I.

What do you think.

Left is left on either side of the pond :D:D:D:D

hmmmm....anyway you can try a different PDC unit...they are a common fail unfortunately!

Of course the OP could always learn to drive and ditch the idiots guide to parking, either that or fit a tow hitch, a totaly reliable parking guide:rolleyes:

Is that what storey calls the '0x12 0x0012 Microcomputer if so would it not bring that up as a fault code ?

As I have never had this working since I have owned the car, I have just been reading RAVE and it says,

the parking switch is none latching push switch on the centre console for selecting the system on and off.
When pressed the switch connects a ground to the PCD ECU an orange led light above the switch indicates when the PCD system is active.

So do you actually have to switch this on for this to operate, or does it do it automatically when you begin to park up.

I have a tow hitch as a parking guide:D:D it just drives me mad when I put it into reverse with the lights and bells
