Having a slight issue.

I changed the battery in the fob today and now every time I unlock and open the door I get a 5 series beep from the dash panel. It's an annoyance and I'd like to find out how to stop it

Any ideas?

Sounds like you car is telling you the battery in the fob is going flat was it a new battery you replaced it with? mine has started to do this every now and then . I might be wrong but as far as I know the only way to switch the bleeps off is to replace the key fob battery with a new one
 
Yeah it's a new battery. Wierder still I found my boot window was down just now and it wasn't last night. I now know the key fob can roll the window down if you hold the button (I didn't know the fob could do that) but I haven't held the button, nor did I last night, nor have I driven it anywhere or done anything other than work on it. Key fob is working fine and is responsive but the bearings still occuring. Tried turning the car over and moving it back and forth on the driveway. Tried putting the old battery back but nothing

I'm puzzled
 
I wonder if it is the car battery playing up ? sorry I can not be of more help
 
The rear window can drop if the button is pressed for just a bit to long. I've done it myself a couple of times.

Your beeping is the fob battery going flat. So I expect the new battery was a cheap one or just faulty. Replace it and all should be well.
 
I was replacing the fob battery in mine every couple of months with some from a packet I had for years. Eventually bought some new, well known brand and never had to change them again.
 
Replaces with Duracell one and now the key fob isn't working at all. Replaced the original battery and nothing, car door lock seems to be broken so I'm now locked out of the car and can't get in. I've tried everything and it's now become majorly frustrating. Only thing I can think of doing is re-soldering the contacts on the battery holder in case of a fractured contact but I can't see anything wrong. My landy is just sat there now looking lifeless.

Battery on the car itself is good.
Brand new good battery in the fob.
I've tried the pressing button 1 five times stood next to the drivers door, bonnet, passengers door and boot.
I've tried pressing button 2 five times in all the above places
I've tried pressing buttons 1 & 2 five times in all the above places.
I've tried holding them both down for 30secs

I've tried the key in the door but the key won't go in.
I've tried the key in the boot but it won't open
I've tried holding the key in the turned position in hopes the boot window would open.


Nothing is working
 
The metal plate that holds the battery in (and presumably is the negative contact) broke away from the PCB when I change the battery in 1 of my fobs, so I'm just using the other one at the mo. Should really get around to fixing it in case anything happens to the working one!
 
Fit the new fob battery, correct way up. Then stand near the drivers door and press the lock or unlock button 5 times in short succession. This will synchronise the the CCU with the rolling code of the fob. This is all that's needed, unless the receiver has gone wrong.

Thanks for the picture but I've tried it already with no success. As above, Nothing has worked. I'm at a complete loss now. Re-soldering the battery holder terminals didn't help

I'm very sad
 
Oh. That's a pain. I personally don't buy a car with only one key, but that's me being fussy and no help to you right now.

I'm curious as to why the key doesn't work in the door. Does the key fit the boot lock?
 
Key will not go in the drivers door , it's like it's glued shut. It goes in and turns in Boot door but clearly the lock is broken as it doesn't do anything. I've tried holding the key in the turned position in hopes the window would roll down but no joy :'(
 
The boot lock is just for closing the rear window. I just wanted to check the key was correct for the car and not a replacement ignition key.
So if the door lock can't be used, you'll need to get in another way, which isn't so easy. Or make the door key work again?
 
We've done it!!!

I found that there are three contacts on the battery terminal. The rear terminal looked fine on the face of things but when turning it over to look at the buttons I found a hairline crack. Re-soldered it and it's now working again
