Just thought I would give anyone who needs one the head's up. They are back in store on Thursday 16 October priced at £13.99.
I could do with 2 but doubt they will appear over here

I've still got the one boxed untouched I bought for you last time! (too lazy to post it!)
Better get another and get them in the post

Would you like me to buy you 2 and ship them Keith?I could do with 2 but doubt they will appear over here
I just hook my charger up to the jump start posts and its not exploded yet, have had battery off couple of times just waited for satnav to shut down then negative off first no problem.Hey, I waited till Search worked again and so here I am with a mature thread revisited.
I bought an Aldi smart charger last week, took it home and made the mistake of reading the instructions.
They clearly state that the battery should be disconnected from the vehicle before charging. To do this on my L322 would require a degree in ballistic electronics, if I understand my owner's manual correctly.
I assume my charger, price £12.99, is the same or similar to the ones that were sold a few years ago at a slightly higher price.
The charger is still in the boot until I pluck up more courage or get reassurance from someone that it will be safe to just put the clips on to the terminals under the bonnet. Alternatively I have a spare secondary towing socket plug and all the lighter sockets are permanently on. Can I just plug into either of them?
I have 2 smart chargers of different generations from Lidl, as long as you connect to the battery before you plug into the mains there should be no problem, I connect positive first and negative to the engine rather than the battery. I certainly have not had a problem doing that on any of my cars. On the P38's I connect via the trailer socket to save taking the battery cover off.Hey, I waited till Search worked again and so here I am with a mature thread revisited.

Thanks for the offer, but these days I can buy them here in Lidl.Would you like me to buy you 2 and ship them Keith?
Hold on... this is a Necro-thread isn't it? LOL
Thanks, that sounds as if I'll be safe. It's the L322's electronics and its reaction to these chargers, which I understand can sometimes send pulses to the battery, that worried me. I'll dig out the trailer plug when it stops raining and work out how to wire it up.I have 2 smart chargers of different generations from Lidl, as long as you connect to the battery before you plug into the mains there should be no problem, I connect positive first and negative to the engine rather than the battery. Wow, not many dealers like that. Thanks, that sounds as if I'll be safe. It's the L322's electronics and its reaction to these chargers, which I understand can sometimes send pulses to the battery, that worried me. I'll dig out the trailer plug when it stops raining and work out how to wire it up.
I was slow in replying because I tried and failed to login on a newer laptop. I hit "Login", the screen darkened as if something was about to happen, but then nothing.
Then I had to go get the Skoda MOT'd. Have I mentioned the local main Skoda dealer here before? MOT'd while I waited, headlight and sidelight bulbs replaced, free freshly made bacon butty and as much free coffee as I could drink, car valeted inside and out. Fifty Two quid.
The chargers can send pulses to the battery but the battery damps these to a level that makes them safe, the alternator output is far from smooth. Thanks, that sounds as if I'll be safe.
