Hello all,

Can anyone adevise me on how to remove the alarm from my 300 tdi 1996?

I have no fob, the siren doesnt work, but when locked, the alarm keeps activating, flashing the hazards etc. (but remains silent)

Would be handier to do away with it completely, rather than try and repair it I assume, but realise it may be tricky

An idiots guide would be great

Thanks

Can yu wait half an hr..

I don't think enough potential landy thieves are watching this thread yet. Hopefully there'll be a few more along shortly and we can get started with the "how to steal a Discovery" Lecture..

As u don't have a fob means that the immobiliser has been bypassed if you remove the alarm ecu or even pull the supply fuse you will also loose the central locking facility.

It's easer to find out why the alarm is activating, may be an iffy door switch or bonnet switch which have been known to give problems, the interior ultrasonic movement sensor is isolated as you are locking with a key, so only active when locking with a fob which u don't have.

Fooker still goes off if you unlock with a key though

True.... as the ecu is voltage drop sensing, power the system down and that should be the end of it.

I also want to remove my alarm system . None of it works now but I cant help but think that 1 day miles from home it will start to play up .

So whats the best way to power down the alarm system. Pull fuse for the alarm and central locking.im having same problem. Both fobs are fine. But mine wont open with fob open with key lock with key and it wont start.alarm will go off. So then need fob to lock then unlock then itl start. So thinking bout removing the lot and bypasd the immobiliser.i dont mind having no alarm as its garaged overnight and central locking isnt a luxury for just me. So im ok getting rid of it all

Just that, remove the power supply to the ECU, u will loose the alarm and central locking function, unless bypassed u will have to install a fresh supply to the the part of your engine that the immobiliser uses to immobilise and possibly to the starter inhibit to enable u to crank the engine.

If the immobilise symbol is showing on the dash pressing the fob button or moving the fob closer to the ignition switch .. info is in the owners handbook which don't have access to at the moment.. so will or should remobilise your engine .

I aint got my manual with me either cheers discool il do the temp 1 till i get home to manual

the spider (imobiliser) lives deep behind the dash, put there intentionally by land rover to be inaccessible as possible, also they do not tell anyone how it works, it would be easier to rewire the whole thing than to try and disable it.

i was having the same problems did the spider bypass and pulled the fuses for the alarm, its been fine since

When i get home from holiday tomoz im goin start pulling things out. Just dont want mess with it now and be stranded on holiday with it
