First off im new so be kind...

ive got a lovely 99 V8 300 series but its acting up, ive locked it both with the fob and the key (seperate times) the red light on the dash is flashing every few seconds etc.. the alarm hasnt gone off as far as i know but i keep noticing out of the window the indicators (flashers) go off randomly? any ideas....

cheers in advance

My 300-tdi does exactly the same thing! The owner before me said he had the alarm disconnected cos it kept going off, but I think he only had the siren disconnected, ive played around with mine and can't work out what's up with it.

I don't guess but i'd go with the above, so a silent alarm without any sound as the sounder has be isolated.

The reasion for a false alarm can either be a faulty ultra-sonic movement detector, door or bonnet switch, something that u have fitted that is triggering the voltage sensing side of the alarm so that lists the sensors, or a fault alarm ECU which is not that common..

And :welcome2: to the Forum.

thankyou :)

and many thanks for the welcome....

sounds about right :) so next question how do you eleminate it???

cheers in advance...

I'd go with the alarm ecu. Mine does the same. i'm half way through fitting an aftermarket alarm. Which controls everything the factory fitted one did. Wish I paid someone to fit it now thou lol

so to fit an aftermarket alarm you surely need to remove the old alarm? is this possible?

Yes and yes although there's no need to remove the alarm ecu, just dissconnect it. The LR immobiliser (spider) will also have to be by-passed and you will require a master central locking actuator replacement to keep your CL working.
Any vehicle alarm fitter will do the job for you.. if you don't have the skills. :)

Well thankyou :)

So has anyone done it made a how to do it report? i can live without the alarm and immobiliser be good to be able to central lock it though but i guess i could cope...

font of all knowledge here, thankyou

I've fitted mine now, all works apart from the c/l. As in the old one is still working that, as there seem to be no out put from the new box of tricks, still got the remote start and timer relay to fit. not bad for £36.50 delivered
