Hello and thank you for reading my post. I have a 2004 Disco2 TD5 and the AirCon won't blow cold. I've had the system recharged - and still no success. LR dealer suggests electrical. LR dealer too d*mn expensive, so please can anyone suggest some things to look at please? Thanks again, kind regards, Dex.

Had the same problem with mine. After spending money on a regas with no success. I took it to an air con engineer who tested the whole system and found a very small leak in the pipe leading to the dryer beside the radiator. I would never have found the leak because of its location and it only showed up under ultra violet light.
So as not to advertise any company I have sent you a private message with his details.

before yer part with yer money, check that the compressor clutch is engaging and that the condensor isn't blocked with all sorts of dead things

Thank you for your kind replies;

Biggeeee - I will find an engineer nearer me (South coast..!) but your information is valuable as a guide for price, so thank you.

Slob - I will endeavour to find the compressor clutch & condensor and giv'em a good clean, thank you for that.

if you can locate the compressor, get someone to start yer injun then while you look at the front of the comp get them to turn on the A/C. you should notice two things, 1/ an audible click from the relay and 2/ the center of the comp pulley should now start to turn.
the condensor is that big radiator looking thing usually in front of the radiator ;. make sure the front of it isn't blocked with dead things and also check between it and the rad for crud. use an airline to clean it and don't be tempted t use a pressure washer as yule bend all the cooling fins and knacker it . which will mean either a new one or a long time spent with thin pliers to straighten them all again

Here's how to read AC codes:

1. Switch the ignition OFF
2. Press and hold AUTO and AIR DISTRIBUTION
3. While holding these buttons switch the ignition ON. The fault codes will flash in the left hand window of the climate control panel.

Here are the possible codes:
00 – No fault
11 – in car temp sensor fault
12 – ambient temp sensor fault
13 – thermistor fault
14 – heater coolant temp sensor fault
21 – sunlight sensor left side fault
22 – sunlight sensor right side fault
31 – left hand temp control servo fault
32 – right hand temp control servo fault
33 – air distribution servo motor fault

If no faults show on this and as you say its fully gassed then i would be looking at the compressor next

Thats cool. ( no pun intended ! )

I just tried that and it flashed and beeped FC, ( "fault code" I presume ), 21/22.

I take it this means I have, or have had a fault with both my sunlight sensors .

Sorry to " jack " the thread Dex, but what does this mean, and where are my sunlight sensors ?.

Del.

The fault code shows for sunlight sensors if its dark or your car was under cover i.e in the garage at the time in which case they are not faulty.

Rob - thank you for that; i have no faults detectable by that system.

Slob - the compressor is not starting; there is no 'click' or fan movement. I will check the elec. conns. Thank you for your help. :)
