Hi all, does anyone know the gap needed in the air con pulley. Mine has been squealing and has thrown a belt so as soon as the weather warms up ( June) I intend to remove the pulley and service it. I cannot find the spec for the gap anywhere. Thanks in advance

Squealing on mine was due to the V's on the belt being worn which would also account for the belt being thrown off. The clutch is an ON/OFF device, not sure that it's likely to squeal.

I'm guessing the pulley doesn't move, only the internals/clutch
No the pully doesn't move, just the clutch plate when the actuator coil is magnetised. The gap is minimal between the drive plate and the clutch plate but I don't have a measurement. Shims can be added to reduce the gap to compensate for wear. **** Part belts are NBG:eek:

Look for Tech Bulletin L8520bu in RAVE.

Gap required also depends if you have the early or later HEVAC. Early type likes the gap smaller because it's driven from HEVAC directly & the wiring goes through more connectors. Later HEVAC uses a relay, so provides more current and is more tolerant of the gap.

The squealing could just be a worn/cracked belt and or adjustment needed. Take off the belt and spin the pulley by hand, check for too much float and go from there. The stress form the compressor is enormous on these earlier systems and the belt will suffer. Hopefully it's not thing serious and you can sort easily. :D

Or possibly the adjustment tensioner bearing.;)
