Hi All,

TD4 2005

Does anyone know the best way to hold the AC Clutch in-place to enable removal of the centre bolt, is there a special tool or should I just wedge something in the holes to hold it?

My clutch isn't engaging have had full re-gas to spec (564?), checked fuses, relay. There is a slight rpm change when AC button is pressed. Multimeter on the Live feed shows fluctuating voltage(Saw up to 14volts) so it seems power is coming down but no clutch engage as it spins freely.

Also can anyone confirm - if the relay gets engaged does that mean the Lo, Hi pressure switches are in correct range? is the AC clutch engage the final part? as there is also no fan spin at all.
 
Relay feeds clutch coil yes.
If voltage is fluctuating then maybe a high resistance connection as the coil uses a few Amps.
Check relay is operating (listening) then check feed from relay, pin 87 on my circuits. If Aircon is on this should be a steady battery voltage.

All this can be done without taking the compressor apart !
If the feed is there but no clutch can be heard, then check for continuity from clutch wire to ground.
If nothing then clutch coil has failed.

Hi Andy, sorry to sound stupid but where is pin 87 is this locate elsewhere? I see only 5 terminals on the relay. Steady battery voltage so 12v DC?
