Changed the air compressor piston ring. When I attempted to raise the suspension heard a bit of a bang and found out the offside bag had broken its bottom mount off. Bought a new bag and its again jumped out of its mounting including ripping off the top clips. It's now fully inflated. The height sensors are relatively new (genuine land rover). Any suggestions? I don't want to have to replace the bag again because I'm struggling for length of the air line.
 
Try recalibrating the height sensors. After changing bags, sensors, compressor piston ring, filter and desiccant, it ran fine for a while and then the compressor stopped running. I gave up and fitted spring and now no trouble at all. Bliss.
 
It's some trouble with that mounting then IMO, the bag is not supposed to jump of whatsoever no matter how inflated it is, if the sensor is decalibrated that side should rise higher and eventually if the pneumatic overpressure protection valve is not working the bag would blow but not jump off

you must be fitting incorrectly or shockers not fitted
 
Is it possible the height sensor could recalibrate itself? Fitted correctly like the last two airbags I did, shockers fitted.
 
I the sensor was unplugged with battery connected or the fault of the sensor was an internal interruption the calibration was lost and the only way to recalibrate is with tester but as it was explained a calibration issue would not make the bag to drop off the mounting
 
Battery connected but sensor not unplugged. So that's another theory out the window. Marked the bottom of the bag so that it was right angle to the slot hole. Confused!!
 
As the others have said, the airbag shouldn't come away from its mounting on the axle. How far did you twist the new bag to lock it in place when you fitted it to the axle before you fastened the two clips on the top mounting?
 
just twisted it enough so that the bottom mount was at right angle to the mounting hole. Doesn't actually lock tight does it?
 
Just occurred to me. I disconnected the airlines at the compressor. The airline with the blue tape on it goes to the nearside (outside) connection, right?
 
That blue tape was maybe put there by somebody to match with the blue connector's colour to not mix them cos it's not factory fitted so might have some logic, though better not play much with those connections if you dont have new suitable o-rings cos they can leak after that
 
Every pic I've seen has the blue tape on the outside airline. Could this cause a problem if they are back to front.
 
I asked because you stated that the blue tape could have been put on by someone, not factory. I lean towards it being factory fitted to identify a particular union. Still doesn't answer my question. How can I tell if they are the right way round?
 
I couldn't possibly comment on any blue tape, but with a bit of careful inspection you should be able to identify which air line goes right and which one goes left. Once you've established that you can make a written note somewhere of whether the offending tape is on the right or left line and then check this diagram found in RAVE:-

IMO it has some logic cos the external electric connector on the solenoid is also blue so normally blue should go near blue

I should be able to tell from that pic because the left hand bag (the one I'm working on) is fully inflated at the moment, so releasing the air out of 12 should deflate the left hand bag. Thanks for the pic.
