I have the l320 Diesel V8 on an 07 plate.
Having had a load of problems with the Hitachi Pumps giving up after no more than 6 months or so I changed to the upgraded AMK Pump. The problem I had was the very slow raising of the car from the lowest setting, now it seems that I still have the same problem with the new upgraded pump. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening I have checked everything I can think of?

Unsure on sport, but on d3 if upgrading to AMK pump then needs new software uploading.
Have you a code reader to check live values?
You can get valve rebuild kits off ebay for about 25 quid for all three valve blocks.
Checked for leaks with soapy water on the pipes/fitting/tank etc?

Done the software checked for leaks have changed the 3 valve blocks as well still no joy.

Have a word with Gary aka @gsturart on here, hes damned good on the air set up.

But if all is new I would be thinking is there enough air getting to the compressor, and if so maybe the compressor is duff, genuine AMK or copy one?

Had it checked by the Local Dealer and it is all good? It's funny because my son has the same Sport Model and his raises so quick.
Thanks for your help I'll try Gary and see what he has to say.
Cheers

hiya

have u checked ur air tank, alas they can leak on top of the welded seam

Along with using some soapy water around all the joints of the compressor , valve block, also ensure that the pipes are correct

if u have ur own diagnostics really need to double check the live data to see what the compressor is producing , might be duff , another thing is to disconnect the compressor air filter pipe from the compressor , the air filter can sometimes get block and therefore reduces the compressor from producing air , that is located in the rear passenger side cubby hole on the boot ,

when the air filter is blocked it acts like a vacuum on the air compressor

hope that helps a little and more than happy to help

finally here are some figures that ur compressor should be producing

Plus another easy check is to -

Before Raising suspension to off road height , does the rear raise first or the front plse, then after it has raised , measure on each wheel from the centre of the wheel hubs to the bottom of the wheel arch,

then in the engine bay pull fuse F26 and leave overnight , Plse let me know or even better a picture please of what it’s like in the morning, with a bad leak it might drop within hours

Between all of us we should be able to pin it down for u

how very true

never forget for the first 6 x months on my 4 x year plumbing / heating apprenticeship was spent in the classroom, OMG did I get a shock when I was sent to site to start the practical side and learnt real fast

alas same with the suspension when I started to take it apart, making up test rigs to pin down leaks, then there was the electrical wiring issues , but deep down loved doing the fault finding

Pull and inspect your air tank, you are describing a very common issue a leak in the air system some where. This will cause your pump to run far to often causing it to die a premature death. The hitachi pump is a very simple to repair pump the amk not so.
As your having the same issue with the amk it clearly is not a pump issue.

The air tank off the wife's D3 same suspension as the sport I couldn't find the leak until I removed the tank.

JLR seem to have a special affection for rust:rolleyes:

Talking of rust I saw for the first time rust on the rear part of a D3 chassis , maybe been dipped in sea water recovering a boat as never seen any other chassis rusted like that

Rusty sills seem to happen where step have been fitted and acting like a water trap, behind rear wheel-arches where mud etc has been allowed to collect and not cleaned out

bet that rear crossmember secrion will take some skilful welding along with making up the curved plates

however wouldn’t surprise if it was written off , seeing that such an integral part of the chassis, rust severely weakening it , alas there’s no pics showing the rear 1/4 of the chassis internally

thank god my chassis and underbody has been treated
