hi all my air suspension does weird things when it works it works fine but then some times it just does nothing and comes up as a fault , then next time it works fine again . any ideas what it can be ?
 
hey there, do you have any diagnostics to hand?
are there any air leaks around the car?
before you go buying stuff, start looking around the car for problems that could be causing the bus to behave in this fashion.
airbags. cracking or air loss.
air lines that travel around the chassis. any crimped or holed.
a spray bottle of soapy water can reveal air leaks.
another thing is, do you ever get water in the passenger foot well after t has rained?
reason being behind the little panel under the dash left of the passenger foot well there is a multi pin connector that can get dripped on by a leak from the pollen filter screws above and corrode the pins inside the plug. this can cause random lifting and other issues.
do your homework and report back.

Hi it has had new air bags and compressor been checked for leaks I am told , I did have to have the sun roof seal recently so I will look at that multi pin when I can . thanks
 
"I am told"..... little old lady told you that? You know the one that sold it to you lol
 
Look in the tech archive top left of range rover home page in there look for one by Wammers on the EAS follow the tests and let us know what's happening.
 
I'd start with that connector behind the pillar that Mark suggested.
 
And check the compressor block connector in the EAS box, its renouned for loose connections. They can be "adjusted" to tighten them.
 
I had this problem, changed bags, valve block seals, compressor seal, pressure switch, checked all lines etc etc but still kept throwing a wobble. would work fine for a couple of days then go into fault mode. eventually change driver pack on the side of the valve block and been perfect since. if you could borrow a known good one its worth checking before spending ££££

thanks I will ask the mechanic if he can check that it's a real pain, when it works it's lovely and I really want to keep the car but it's so hard to get to the bottom of things . this forum helps keep me going with it . thanks all for your in put
 
Possible faulty sensor. Has it been jacked up with the wheels hanging recently? If so, the sensors can get moved to an area that they don't normally operate in and pick up dirt causing false readings.
 
The L322 is quite good at telling you what is wrong using the right diagnostics kit. Many systems are linked together and the underlying fault can be from a different part of the vehicle but without the right diagnostics you could end up replacing everything.
As Wazz says it could be as simple as the height sensor needs replacing.

yes I would think it has been up on the lift several times recently . what would be the cure for that ? can they be cleaned or does it mean new sensors

Not certain on the l322. On the p38 it's a replacement job and I would suspect the same for the l322.
You could try disconnecting the actuating arms and moving them throughout their travels a good few times and hope they clean up but there is a risk you make it worse.
As said before, with the correct diagnostics you should be able to see live readings from them and see what they are doing.
