Hi I have a desco series 2 auto my air suspension stuck on back driver side and the other side works fine I have tried to lower it on dashboard button but no joy .how can I get it back down to normal please?.
 
Hi Karen,

Have you had a look at the ride height sensors in the rear wheel arches? they look like elbows , but each section is about 8 inches long, I suspect one may be broken.

Hi thanks for the reply I have just had a look they look ok
 
I need to get it welded then could that be why it wont go down though as I have seen there is some cable tie holding it up i not had it long had to have some welding done on it not long ago they never told me about that hole .
 
As I said, I am no expert, I have springs not air. But a hole that size in that place i would have thought was an MOT fail, but i could be corrected on that. Cables ties. Hmmm.
They can serve a useful purpose, like keeping things out of the way of other things that move, rub etc, or simply keeping cables together, their original conception! But they are not designed to hold suspension parts together.
I and you will wait until someone with more knowledge jumps on and tells us.

Hi Karen,

Although the second picture is way out of focus , iif you look at the angle the part attached to the chassis is at and compare each side, it looks to me like they are not the same, the one that has a massive hole behind it does not look correct, I would say that the sensor is not longer firmly attached and the sensor arm is reading correctly but the angle it is reading is false.

Bad, no longer attached correctly to chassis. Sensor body should be vertical. Not at an angle.

To make it driveable, by being very careful you could try adjusting it and runniing the engine then using a cable tie to try and hold it in the correct angle,

But do be careful as you could squash yourself.

But that chassis needs work and fixing now.

Thankyou both for your replys I getting it welded tommorow and getting them to look at the suspension to think going to get springs fitted so dont get any issues further down the line .
 
I having new 1/4 chassis fitted as found it bad under the backend I haven't owned a disco before always had Mitsubishi but do love the disco just not the rust I have ordered springs to get fitted on it .
 
It of the road now waiting to be fixed as it that high it one side and made the front passenger side really low I dont want to risk doing any damage to it be driving it I really need to get it sorted soon as live in the middle of nowhere and floods everywhere need it for work .I have been looking to get new backend as I said I could get it welded but the under neath really bad pitted at the back .

If I was you, I would check a 1/4 chassis will cover the area that you have an issue with.


You can bodge the system to work for you in an emergency, using some wire and tape or cable ties.

I have been looking on the internet for 1/4 chassis going to phone craddocks in the morning to see if they have any in . Dont know anywhere else to look .
