Hi, I'm new to this site but you look like a helpfull bunch :)

Can you Help? today the car would not rise from sitting on its bump stops( does go down over night sometimes with weight in boot ) there is no fault light on, and the pump is working. All for bags still feel hard. With the pump running there is only air coming from port 6 on the valve and I think that fills the air tank, and that is holding air. when I pull the 4 small pipes off the valve there is no air? Moving the switch on the dash puts the up arrow on but stiil no lift.
Is it safe to drive on the bump stops to a garage, if I can not fix it

Cheers Paul.

If it goes down it's leaking, check it ALL with good old soapy liquid.
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say your compressor seal is knackered from trying to keep up with the leak, so find your leak/s and renew the seal in the compressor.

Thanks guys will try the leak route.

But the pump does cut out when the tank is full. If I had a big leak would the pump not keep pumping? and If I had a small leak would the car still
not try to lift?? or have I got it wrong

Cheers Paul

There is a thermal switch on the pump that prevents overheating and turns the pump off. Are you sure that the air tank is filling up? If it's not lifting at all I would suspect the pump first. Remove the EAS cover and unbolt the pump, turn it upside down and undo the cover plate and then the chamber for the piston, you will see the seal once this is removed, check it for any signs of wear or perishing.

Thanks, that gives me two jobs for this Saturday.

Might there be a link to the air suspension layout on here ( just incase ) :)

Cheers Paul.

i had a similar problem last week ,i drove it to my local landy garage where he checked the complete suspension and it turned out to be the compressor, not a cheap fix but every thing is fine now.i have found repair kits for the compressor that make the job a hell of a lot cheaper, good luck

Hi
Good comments so far

Don't forget to check inlet filter as this can cause over heating pump if is blocked.

It's the one at the front of the valve block, unscrew and see if you can blow through it,. Next place your finger over the working pump inlet hole and you should feel a reasonable suck, if you don't, suspect the piston seal. This is best replaced with a whole piston and seal assy. (Less chance of breaking the teflon seal)
My filters were cheaper from th local LR dealer than from Ebay.

You may have seen that most of us have purchased a lead to reset the EAS, I got mine from Taw motors in Barnstaple and he supplied full instrucions and all the software for about £20.
This software will allow you to raise and lower the car, chech heights and reset the fault codes. Th besdt bit for me so far was the ability to switch the pump on and off without the engine running as I could then hear the leak in the rear suspension bag. (could not hear it while the engins was running)

Keep us posted on how you get on

Good luck

Fred

Thanks Gents looks like you might be right.

There is a small leak on the supply (port 6 ) to the tank. Might this pipe be 6m?

Also the compressor piston seal has a small tear, could this be enough to stop it lifting?

As it is now Sat pm I am stuck for places to shop from, are piston and seals easy to get? or is the quicker to look big and buy a new compressor ( might P38 spares be the best place )

I need the car back on the road ASAP.

Many thanks Paul

New piston and seal fitted from P38 spares. We have lift off. :D :D :D

Thanks guys for your help. Now where's the petrol station!!

Paul.
