Problems with air suspension again, on my way home and the offside rear dropped, managed to get it home, changed the height sensor, the vehicle only seems to raise when I jack it up on the tow bar, the compressor runs ok. took the vehicle around the block and it dropped again, could be a faulty sensor but cannot understand why it only goes up when the vehicle is jacked, Any Ideas?

When were the air bags last replaced?
Under normal conditions, they can last about five years, give or take.
Personally, I would recommend that you change both air bags before you dive any deeper into the system.

Were having a run on D2 air suspension issues at the moment. If 1 side drops to far then the height readings are way out of range so it wont pump up until its been jacked up bringing the height sensors back into normal range.
If you havnt changed the bags in your ownership swop them out for new ones do the pair its a 40 min job and thats doing both.

Just wondering, if I replace the airbags with springs, apart from having to have the ECU programmed are is there anything else I should Know, also after fitting, can I drive about 5 miles to have the programming done?

LoL. I spent several hours in the workshop with mine. 'Just twist off' my arse... The bloody things just did not want to come undone. A very large pair of plumbers pliers came to my rescue (and removes all of my oil filters!).

Too much faff, just fit new bags

yes thanks, when I looked up removing the air tube at the top of the bag it says undo 10 mm nut, looking at it I don't think its a nut, is there another system if so, how do I detach it, couln't find the info on youtube

You may find they have the push fit quick connection fitting,

Have a read of this.

Cheers

If you take a careful look at the tube connectors you should see a little brass collet around the tube. Push the collet in and the pipe should withdraw.
When you fit your new bags, make sure that the end of the pipe is cut absolutely square and is clean and undamaged. when fitted, they push in about 1/4 inch but they will be secure.

There is no faff in fitting springs. The only difference is that you won't have the self-levelling option for towing or any spring problems again!

I know it could be a bag but now sitting on the drive all level no jacks, if I move go found the block it will probably sink, just forgetting the bags for a moment, because i have had really odd things happen with this motor, in my opinion electrical related, i.e coming home from Aberdeen up over Dumfries the temperature shot up and the fan cut in, thought the head gasket had blown, got relayed home 400 miles, after two days and a full radiator ran normal and engine still is with no water loss, can only guess at a stuck sensor, so could something electrical be affecting the height sensor?

I had a mobile mechanic come out to my house and diagnose righthand height sensor saved alot of time finding the problem.

Done the replacement sensors and disco works fine and you actually realise it was an issue that was there for awhile but not showing as it now drives alot smoother over the speed bumps and potholes

Mobile mechanic sounds a good idea but have now ordered new bags, just seen on you tube a kit to service the compressor, anybody done this and are there problems? just one more thing, now that I have learn't a lot about the suspension I cannot remember pushing the self levelling button and anything happening, I read that the vehicle should rise 2 inches at the back, when I push the button, there are thhee chimes and then the light on the dash flashes but no rise, just wondering if this could all be connected and if so any ideas, Thanks in advance
