hi guys

I fitted a new air spring to the rear of my 2000 X plate Td5 Disco this afternoon.

When i turned ignition on, it didn't inflate! is this correct? - i drove it very slowly forward and it inflated to full pressure after 10-15 metres.

i haven't been under the car much, but now i noticed that there is a very quiet 'pssst' every 10secs ish - sort of noise i'd expect to come out of a compresser!

should i be worried????

the history is that the car kept going right down on its rear offisde overnight - it then reinflated if i drove off for a few metres each time but deflated over the coruse of anything from a few hrs to a few days after igniton turned off - hence i suspected slow puncture in the air spring!! (no bubbles though doing the spray test)

(p.s. like a muppet i crammed in the new air spring to fit it rather than dropping the axle slightly to give me more room - when it finally inflated first time there was a huge kink in it - i jacked car up again on the chassis and lowered the axle and it popped out fine - so maybe it didn't inflate first time becuase the 'crammed in' rubber sealed over the air valve! sorry for being a muppet - i am learning - slowly!!)

cheers

Hi, not got masses of experience but my td5 es auto with air suspension does the same hiss everynow and then, I take it as normal. It also does it when you park up occasionally and walk away.

I have the same 'pssshhhhh' sound often when I turn off the car. Would love ot know if this is normal???

My ' Pssst' Is When The Car Is Running Apporx. Every 10secs (rather Than When I Turn Engine Off) - I'm Sure I Didn't Hear It Before I Changed The Air Spring

Cheeers

Should the compressor be hot to the touch after driving a long distance. I would think the compressor would not be operating unless you are raising the suspension???

Any ideas here?
