On a budget...Detroit on the rear, nothing on the front.
Money no object, ARB's on both.
Money a bit of an object...Detroit on the rear and something else on the front...Detroit do one suitable for the front as well.

thanks for the reply, landy people are all on a budget:mad:

but have read alot about these ARB air lockers so i think i wil try a set on the rear diff:) :) :) well after xmas is over..................cheers

ARB's require fitting air, so unless you have it already fitted they will work out about twice the cost of fitting Detroit lockers, which are mechanical.

If you fit one diff locker it makes more sense to fit it on the front. Ought to have a roll cage with aftermarket diff lockers in case they go wrong

Personally I don't like air operated lockers. I would get Kams over ARB anyday as I have seen soo many arb's with broken internals and ripped off air lines.

The best soloution for a cheap bullet proof setup is a defender 110/130 rear salisbury axle and a detroit locker. That will give you really strong shafts , 4pin diff and a decent locker. For the front I would go for a detroit tru trac. Although this setup isn't idea for the road (you cannot turn it off or to open like ARB's) Its the cheapest way me thinks.
Once you get diff lockers you will eventually buy:

Stronger shafts,
stronger Drive members,
stronger CV joints,

Whats the next weak part in the drive train? Where do you stop? Propshafts gearbox clutch?

If you have just one, fit it on the rear as it will improve your ability to go round corners (a useful ability on some roads i find!)
