Looking for advise..
I am wanting to install air lockers (probably ashcroft) but as they are so expensive I wonder if I can do them in stages i.e. front first and later on rears or just do one and not bother with the other. If only one, which diff is best to focus on?
Thoughts welcome please.

Well the first question is.

1. Why do you want or 'think' that you need lockers?
2. If you are looking at fitting them, then really you should be able to answer your own question on if you can do them in stages or not.
3. Likewise, if you don't know where to install a locker, then while this sounds harsh, but maybe more focus on driving training and learning how to drive off road would be better money spent.
 
EDIT:

For the record, I'm not saying don't get them. But for almost any Land Rover use in the UK there is no actual 'need' for them. And there are other solutions such as ATB's that might actually suit what you want better.

Also running lockers can cause other additional issues and expenditure.
 
A locker fitted to the rear axel is an option on new discos and the RR sports so LR thinks that is the place to have one if the owner want one.
 
As said, rear first. Front diff isn't more fragile, but the CV's are an 'extra' part in the front to consider, so it's not a good idea to have a front locker on, whilst turning over rocks say, and a lot of power on!

I find that just a rear is good, you can simply drive steadily up a step, say, under a lot of control, without having to bounce it up at higher speed. They really help on wet grass!
 
Thanks for the answers. I think it has to be rear fit only.
I dont do extreme stuff, dont drive hard so it is just occasionally that traction is an issue on some surfaces so a diff locker seems like a plan on the rear.
