Mines a V8 that runs on gas, every now and then when accelerating ya get a backfire that blows the pipe off which cuts the engine, push pipe back on and away you go, anyone else have this problem and is there anything that can be done to stop it happening ??

Surely if its a backfire it could be igniting too quickly every so often ? Like a random error kinda thing.....

its duct taped to buggery but still blows off :(

the gas fitter has tested the system a couple of times and all should be well and apparently i heard alot of disco's on gas do it

Might just be a common flaw due to poor design, short of changing the pipe work for something more sturdy you could be out of luck

its not all the time, it did it this morning but it must be 5 or 6 weeks since it happened last, ill do what i normally do and apply more duct tape, might use black instead of silver for a change :D

Get your hands on mammoth tape ;) that stuffs strong!

Better to find out why it's backfiring. LPG system properly installed on a Disco 2 shouldn't backfire at all. If it has backfired it's probably blown the MAF (Air flow meter between air filter box and throttle body) If this has gone then will probably always backfire - but you need to get fault codes read
