Hi there.

My 1998 2.5 DSE has a problem, basically it starts up and drives fine, but it's down on power and surging, so after inspection there seems to be allot of air in the fuel line, so I suspected this is the cause of my problems.

Anyone knows a fix and how much it will cost to fix.

Thank you.

It could be the leak off pipes on the injectors drawing in air but if they were i would have thought it would turn over a while before it started, i would change the pipes anyway as they are very cheap and easy to fit, then i would change the fuel filter, but it could also be the fuel pump drawing in air as i think the pipe in the tank sometimes cracks, if you have no problem when the tank is full and only when you have half a tank or less then its the pick up pipe in the tank and you have to drop the tank and remove the pump.

I tried to start it today and it wont start, there is no fuel in the clear pipe and when I took the pipe off from the filter side and turned on the ignigtion I get no fuel there either.

I connected up a pump from my water cooled pc into the line and it started up instantly, so I think it is the pump thats in the tank.

I fitted one today and it now starts up on the button, what a crap job taking the tank off, nice of LR to make the fill pipe almost imposs to get to.

I think the clasic Range Rover you can access the pump without takeing the tank off , i am lucky ,whoever owned my vehicle before had a hole made in the floor so all i have to do is remove a cover and there it is
