1995 DSE - After oil and filter service, having a look round, there is a lot of air getting into the fuel line where it is visible. This doesn't stop it running or even cause irregularity.

I think the tank pump is reasonably ok. It only took a few seconds to fill the filter and fire up.

There are no visible fuel leaks so my sense of logic suggests that the air must be being drawn in on the after filter side. It all looks secure and no suction sounds.

Any ideas?

Ta,

It just keeps coming.

G~

EDIT: Unless you're saying that the air gets stopped at the FIPS and the derv is passing the air which appears to be being drawn in.

With engine cold so glow lamps work. Undo the union on the FIP and get someone to cycle the ignition so glow plug lamp is on. Pump will only run with glows on or when engine is running. Or when being cranked on 1999 up. When all air is gone nip union up. If it comes back check spill pipes and replace if needed. Air can also be suck in past O rings on either side of filter when engine cools down as hot fuel contracts. If air is being pulled from tank you have a problem on the fuel pump pickup it will need sorting.

Agree with everything Wammers said, try that first.

A leaking fuel injector (particularly no. 4) can also cause air to get back in to the fuel line, although I could literally hear it sucking back in the minute I turned a hot engine off when mine went.

You changed the filter did you check both oring washers on the filter where oiled and still attached when you screwed it on just reread thought you said filters forget that unless you did fuel filter as well
