Nope Taxed it's never ran on anything other than diesel. Any suggestions???? Is there anything other than the fuel system that could be at fault that i could check?????

My new lift pump has just been delivered, GRRRRRR can't fit it yet though cos gotta go fetch my kids. On inspection there is a massive difference with the manual lever on the new one compared to the old one. Old one I operate the lever and it's very loose and stays in whatever position i leave it in. New one is nice and tight and returns to top when operated. So i'm crossing fingers this is a sign that the old one is shot and am hoping the new one will solve my problems. Will update tomorrow afternoon once it's fitted.

The feeling is almost certainly because the new one dopes not have its INSIDE operating lever pressed in - as in by the eccentric on the camshaft.

Try holding the inner lever in THEN (still holding it in) operate the external priming lever. You'll feel the difference I think.

Just be SURE to connect the IN and OUT pipes the right way. Some pumps have them in different places.

your old one is dead, dont forget to be very carefull with the high pressure fittings on the fuel lines if they dont come at first give them a good soaking in wd40 and leave for a while and try again. Wont take long and you should be back on the road! :)

Easiest way to check the old vs new is see if there is a vacuum created when pumping the lever, I saw a massive difference with my new pump before fitting

Update guys, new lift pump is on and fitted and all went smoothly as far as that goes, now got a new problem she will sit there idling quite happy but when i try and rev her up she just dies off. There is no power there at all. On checkeing the old pump it seems to operate fine although being older is looser than the new one and doesn't have as much stroke. Going by the way the old one was connected the top connector (which seems to suck instead of blow) was connected to the fuel filter and the bottom one was connected to the fuel tank!!!!!!!!! as i have just copied how it was connected before is this right???? Logic says to me that the one that vacuums would be the one that draws the fuel from the tank. Operating the old lift pump off the truck fuel squirted out of the bottom pipe, surely this one would feed the fuel filter?????

silly question i know but have you re-bled it after idleing? it sounds like you have air in it still. is it a 300 or a 200?

Right, I switched the pipes about and she now runs at least but is still as bad as before. My sedimentor decided to spring a leak too so had to fix that at the same time. I tried manually bleeding and manually pumped for almost 20 minutes and nothing came out the bleed screw on the filter. I re cracked the injector pipes and fuel seems to be flowing ok through there. Turned her over and just left her ticking over occasionally cracking the bleed screw on the filter and the injector nuts, Fuel comes out of the injector nuts although not very fast and no fuel comes out the bleed screw. Could my fuel injector unit be the cause???????????? NO pipes leak, Sender unit is fine, Sedimentor is fine, Fuel filter and lift pump are brand new. HELP HELP HELP anybody in the Hinckley area fancy giving us a hand????????

It might be air in the system causing funny flow, but once the air is out,the vacuum side has got to go to the tank, and the flow side has got to go to the filter-otherwise the injection pump is doing all the work, and is now fighting the lift pump as well

Take the pipe off the lift pump which goes to the tank and see if you can blow down it to see if it is clear, sounds like a blockage. On tickover ,when you undo bleed on the filter, fuel should be running out

often nothing comes out of bleed screw ,bleed at front pump banjo not filter 13mm socket that way you remove all air to pump, bypass sedimentor you dont need it with 8mm hose usin hose clips fasten to passenger side tank unit connection and behind rear wheel near drivers side rear door on chassis inner of the two pipes cut and slide hose over clamp with hose clip, them remove pipes at rear of pump on turning engine over should evenly pulse out in clean jet on after other equally ,then refasten and bleed on injector nuts before starting, its a common prop i do regulary, but in the end inj pumpo might be worn,in which case let me know i might have a second hand oine i could get checked my brother in law is fuel in jection reconditioner ,dont have your pump done cos if worn will cost as much as new

front pump banjo ???????????? my manual doesn't show this part????? any clues or secret maps to it's location.

FIXED IT FIXED IT FIXED IT. And about bloody time too. After changing fuel filter and lift pump, Yesterday my neighbour had sympathy on me and came over to help after messing around all day during which we removed sedimentor and bypassed with a length of clear pipe and some jubilee clips and completely blowing out the fuel lines. It would start but only barely tick over and wouldn't rev. John (now known as the legend) went away and this morning we investigated the fuel stop solenoid. We had to smash off the tamper proofing system and then removed the solenoid. The plunger was very sticky in it's location and as a trial we removed it and replaced the solenoid without it. And bugger me sideways after a few turns she fired up. We left her ticking over for a few minutes and then took her for a spin. It was like the day i bought old Bessie and was such a relief that finally my old bus is now running like a dream. Only downside or at least till the new part arrives I will have to stall her to turn the engine off but i can live with that. New part is on order and will be fitted the minute it arrives. I am gonna replace with a standard solenoid (no tamper proof) and will run a wire straight to the ignition live for activation.
