okay guys

2.5na

air filter housing is complete, all clips in situ, isnt distorted, no holes and i have blocked up the drain hole. Now when the engine was running i put a piece of wood over the intake of the filter housing to check air tightness.

The engine bogged down a lot but didnt stall, like it was getting a teeny bit of air from somewhere.

the rubber hose is intact, everything was tightly jubilee clipped and the wood didnt have holes in it. Air filter is intact and i blocked the restriction indicator pipe. Cant see where else air would get in........

Is this a peculiar foible of the NA air box or is there something amiss?

the reason i ask i want to fit a snorkle so thought i would 'tightness check' what i had first.

It was laminated floor board, ok will try with something less porous.

I am such a dick....

The only real problem with wood is that if the face of the wood isnt 100% smooth/flat/square and/or if the face of the air intake isnt 100% smooth/flat/square then even the smallest amount of air could get in.

As suggested try some rubber or something that will be malleable enough to make a seal :)

Okay using a rubber car mat stall it after about 5 seconds approx. so it is airtight. Nice cheers chaps
