Hi folks
Please be gentle with me I know very little about Land rovers .Could any body tell me if it is possable to fit air conditioning in a defender around the 1995 vintage? If yes any idea how ,I have read throu the forum but could not find any information .I am sure you are all falling down laughing, what a pratt fancy asking that, but what the hell .

Hi mad hat man
Thank you for your reply .We would like a 90 for leisure use, to take us and our 2 Dogue de bordaeux to place's like Thetford forest, Hatfield forest and any were off the beaten track at weekends and days off ,but they do get over heated in the back of a car in summer stitting in traffic .The wife said no air con no 90.

I have a 2005 110 with standard aircon. It sits under the main dash and blows cold air out of a row of slots running from from side to side at around knee height.

While this produces a flow of cold air around the front footwell it struggles to cool the whole interior of a 110 SW. I would suggest you try one to see if it's going to keep the beasts cool enough before spending the money.

My old Discovery used to have a flow from the aircon to the rear seats and there was an option of a second aircon unit in these.

we have dalmatians and they don't get hot in the back of my 90. you can get little fans to go on the dog cages in the back of cars - could you fit one on your dog guard to blow air onto them? i assume you'll be having a dog guard ofcourse......i wouldn't fancy a lovely big possibly wet and muddy dog sat on my seat.

or how about fitting one of those fan things in the roof like on police dog vans.

Openin the windows would be more effective. Aircon on a defender is like an ashtray on a motorbike.

I have the complete under dash unit from my 98 Defender if anyone is interested. It is complete with al switch gear and in excellent condition. The evaporator unit is alsoincluded and is in as new condition.
No sensible offer refused. I'm going to put it on fleabay but will give you guys first refusal.
I used the compressor for on board compressed air and the radiator that went in front of the cooling rad was shot so you would need to source these bits.
