can anyone tell me if after my air con has been filled, will the little book sign in my heater screen automatically go off?

No that does not come on when the system is low on gas. Only fault code you will get if gas is low is compressor clutch open circuit. This is because with no gas pressure the minimum pressure valve is not closed to make the compressor clutch circuit. And the compressor cannot run. That does not cause the book to appear. Diagnostics would tell you more. Highly likely to be a blend or distribution motor fault.

oh right, ive booked it to have regas as its blowing warm, will they know at the garage whats wrong?

If they have proper diagnostics, but don't bet that they will have. Don't let them screw you get it on proper diag and it will tell you which component is faulty.

Put where you are in your profile, there may be someone near to you with diagnostics kit that can read your fault codes for you.

Mine used to bring the book up with no gas but only after about 2 mins, works fine now it's gassed. Assumed it popped the book up because it couldn't get the required temp.

It wasn't the lack of gas that brought the testbook up i can assure you. Lack of gas does not put it on. A glitch somewhere else maybe but not a lack of gas.

That may be so but book was on and had been every time I used it. Drove to garage. Gassed it up. Book stays off and has not come back on now for 2 months. I know there is no sensor to tell it there is no gas but it fixed mine, therefore got to be worth a try. I agree that if the book is on as soon as you turn it on then you have component fault and it needs diagnostics.

Book sometimes comes on with no gas in IF you have aircon switched OFF. (Switch lit). Mine has had no gas at all in since i changed condenser last year. Book does not come on unless aircon is turned OFF. Only fault code is as previously stated.

That's what I got. Fault 32 open circuit on clutch with book symbol. After I fixed the TXV and regassed I'm pretty sure the book symbol went away on its own. As My Gorsky says, put your location in and maybe someone can read the faults for you.
