Hi, air con fan on the front of my td5 is running all the time even when climate panel is switched off. Is this normal?? If not any ideas were i can start to look for faults Cheers all

From memory no it is not normal , you either have a problem with a switch or relay in the air con circuit or possible your engine could be overheating ? I am not sure but I think there is another thermal switch in the cooling system that switches the fans on independantly if the water gets too hot . Is the fan running as soon as you switch the engine on after being parked all night or just after a few minutes driving ? Regards Jonathan

Check the coolant level, mine was doing this, it's a fail safe if the engine gets too hot. To temporarily stop the AC fan running i've had to take the fuse out. Going to plug in a diagnostic tool to see if I can reset it. I'll let you know what happens

the air con fans will only run it the coolant temp goes above 106* it uses the same coolant temp sender and is controled buy the ecu

With the engine stone cold, as soon as i start ,the fan comes on. Temp is all normal on dashboard and when i pull relay out of the engine bay fuse box the fan stops and then starts straight awayupon replacing it. . I have tried swaping the relays over but it make no difference, the fan just wants to run. What else gives it the command to run?????

As martinhollings says, your engine got too hot. Possibly an airlock in the sytem pushed the coolant out. You need to reset the ECU via a diagnostic tool, that will tell the AC fan/sensor the engine temp is ok.
Check your coolant level. Top it up if needed and run the engine with the reservoir cap off for a little bit.
If after doing that you still have problems, suspect a bigger issue.
