My daughter commented that there are no vents to the back seats.

Is there any conversion parts to extend the blown air to the back?

Front AC uses the same vents as the heater so no need to fit an additional vent.
The alternative is to fit rear AC which was an option.

The rear aircon consisted of a blower/evaporator unit that fits in the rear wing where the left hand occasional seat would be if you had a 7-seater, it further has extended coolant pipes from the A/C system in the front, a different headling with 5 outlet vents, ducting that leads up the D-pillar from the A/C unit to these vents, a control unit in the headlining near the sunroof control and a loom for all the interconnections.

It is a pig to retro-fit though not impossible as all the holes in the floor and mounting points etc are on all vehicles, but you would need to very determined and pretty good with the spanners to try it. units or even complete kits do occasionally come up on ebay, in fact I have a spare blower/evaporator unit if anyone needs one.

The system was normally only fitted to 5-seaters, but it is technically possible to fit it to 7-seaters, though the left seat then gets pushed so far out into the bot space, that I think it is more trouble than it's worth

Mine is 5 seat

Now that is a lot of work, I was hoping there was just a duct in the centre console.

To be honest I don't think it is worth it.

You would think that the ES model would have it fitted as I have most extras, ACE, SLS, navigation, pearlescent paint, the essential one inside the transfer box.

Thanks for the advice

Agreed

for reference, attached is the microfiche that shows all the kit I was talking about

It was a £695 option for all but the base model for 2004MY disco's .
The same option for the D1 something around £500 IIRC in 1997.... for those that expected to visit warmer countries, but I've found the standard system copes very well with external temps of 30c with internal temps around 12c-15c according to my infrared temp gun
You shouldn't have a problem with the AC cooled air for your rear passengers, the temps to the rear should be the same as from the front vents give or take a degree, so if not then it requires investigating.

I always thought that there were rear air ducts which blow air from the heater/air con unit out under the back of the centre cubby.

They are there on mine.

Don't expect the air outlets to have fiddly-twiddly fancy vent things to direct the flow; sorry but all you get are two oblong tube ends about 2x1 inches or so that blow where they blow.

Mine has this option, to seats 6 and 7

It's a 2001 es premium, so i would think there must be a few in breakers yards

If you do go for it. Remember you'll need a headlining to suit the new ducts

Cheers

Mine are the same vents as elsewhere, you can also see where the duct work goes around the back sunroof

At a pinch, it wouldn't be hard to drop the headliner, and plumb in some electric flexible conduit to the existing ducts, and at least get it venting into the boot area

Cheers
