I got the air conditioning recharged around July and it worked but gradually the effectiveness got worse so I obviously have a leak somewhere. I'm guessing condenser but I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

The air conditioning now still operates but I get a constant hissing sound when it's activated, pressing the AC OFF button stops the hissing immediately. It's went from intermittent hissing to constant hissing when the air conditioning is on.

Is this just because I have a leak and the refrigerant has gotten low or does that mean I have a problem with something else (expansion valve?) that I should also replace when I take a look at replacing the condenser.

My guess is that you dont have a leak but do have a failing compressor check inlet and outlet temps

One pipe is hot coming from the compressor is hot and one is cold. Don't have anything to measure the temperature properly if that's what you wanted me to do :(

That's OK, so sounds like you have a leak, do you hear it inside the car or outside?
You can get a hissing noise from the evaporator.

If it's a leak it won't be hissing for long, there is not all that much gas in the system.
