Hi

I have an 1989 Range Rover SE Vogue Auto EFi with Air Con.

Now I have cleaned the rubbish from between the Radiator and the secondary one, so when I turn Air Con on these two fans cut in with gusto.

Does anyone know if there is anyway of converting these two fans to run all the time. Is the secondary Radiator a normal fit or is it special.

Does anyone with Air Con have the same Secondary Radiator.

The Car is Automatic

hi charlotte you call it a secondary radiator you dont mean the condensor for the air con slimmer in size with 2 fans bolted to the front of it,im only guessing thats what it is why do you want the fans to run all the time it will take the engine a long time to warm up,you could always remove normal viscous fan and run it saving engine power and heat up time i used to run my old rangie like that and when the car got hot the aircon fans cut in anyway, i hope im on the right track here all the best tiga
 
hi charlotte some fans cut in straight away at slow speed like on a discovery and some are controlled by the ecm and some are controled by a thermostatic switch i will have a look at my books sometime unless anyone else can give you the correct operating procedure on how they work alll the best tiga.

I've got the same vehicle, an 89 Rangie, and was just trying to work through this same problem today. I know my fans work because they come on with the AC switch, but unless the AC is on they don't come on when the engine is hot, even to the point of overheating. I was thinking about wiring them to a switch on the dash.

What did you find out about how these fans work? Are they supposed to cut in at high engine temp? If so, where is the sensor? Who knows, if I'm lucky replacing the sensor might be easier than wiring in a switch. :cool:
