Okay, 2003 Discovery 2 Td5 with original factory-fitted air con (compressor LR part number is JPB101330, Denso type 10PA17C).
Okay, air con stopped working a few weeks ago (has been fine since day 1 - 17 years ago) - not blowing cold air anymore and clutch not engaging.
I have a good theoretical understanding of refrigeration (air con), but no practical experience with it.
Ex-mechanic had a good look for me and confirmed the system was fully-charged with gas and said the coil has failed - need a new coil. Said I should see if I can replace both the coil and the clutch (new or recon clutch) - can do this in situ (no need to remove the compressor), so don't need to remove the compressor or de-gas the system.
Had a quick look for a coil and clutch (and may as well put a new bearing in the pulley) - no luck so far though.
Has anyone changed the coil and clutch before? .
Any tips for removal / reinstalling?
Any thoughts on where I can pick-up a coil / clutch / bearing?
Keen to move onto this soon as the weather is bound to heat up soonish!
