Anyone have a series 2a brake servo - cheap ( even better free , well i can but try ) because the little monster seems to have developed air brakes

They still work but are accompanied by a loud hiss when pressed - just like your friendly 35ton artic

I assume there is a diaphragm inside thats split - but havn't been able to find any repair kits listed

just one more thing to add to the list of ongoing repairs

Servo on a 2a ????
Not seen one of them before unless someone has fitted a servo off a series 3.

yeh - deffo has a servo - big black thing attached to the master cylinder c/w vaccum pipes etc

it's a late-ish 2a - 1970 so could be a crossover type thing or a mod , not sure - but either way its SNAFU

will have to have a tour of local scrapyards to see if i can find similar one - or take it apart and get to work with the superglue

I'm not too sure about s3's but i think the early one's did not come with a servo, you will need to look for a late model s3.
Or you can still get new ones from pad's or crad's

i could be wrong here , again, but i don't think even the series 3 had black servos somaybe its from a defo or disco..i know the one i'm puttin in my series is from a disco..
y'awl got a piccy of it ??

haaaaaaaa - now i know why i didn't suffer from the 'awful landy brake syndrome' that others complain about - it must be a mod that previous owners have done

think that while i'm replacing it i may look at a dual line system as a further upgrade - that shouldn't be tooo much trouble

cheers for the info guys

Hay Slob you havent got a set of instructions on how to add a servo to a 2a have you ?

so has mine but then i changed from single circuit no servo to disco master and servo with dual lines..;what dia is yer servo.

you should have a tee peice on yer chassis just south of the master cylinder. you only need renew to there (assuming no problems with yer brakes at the moment)so its out with the old and in with the new, plus two pipes and a vaccum hose... is yours petrol or weasel?

easy one then.. you need to drill and tap yer inlet manifold. to take the vaccum hose.....if you need a fitting and a loan of the tap pm me and i'll dig them out.

Ta
I have a set of tap's
I also have a mate who is scrapping a series3 so i might be able to get a few spare bits off it, as i currently have a common brake / cluch reservoir.

Do i need to do anything with the 10inch drums i currently have fitted?

11" would give better brakin and as thats what yer looking fer it would be best to change them

have done a bit of checking !!!!!! you had me puzzled for a while there

Servo was available as a option on series 2a - admitedly with dual circuit lines whereas mine has single line master cylinder - so a bit of modification has gone on over the years

all i need to do now is find out what other vehicle it fitted ( LR being well know to scrounge parts from other BL vehicles ) and find one for next to nowt in a scappies

no rush cos it may sound like the Flying Scotsman pulling out of Liverpool St but the brakes still work

Try the check valve on servo it should only work one way > if its working both change for a new one should cure problem.also check filter isnt blocked.
