If rubber springs are so good then why ate there you tube videos for lots of different makes showing how to convert to steel springs? If they improve the ride so much then why didn't they use them at the front? The only difference it has made is that I don't hear the racket from the compressor, no hissing, car always level at rest. I don't need extra height and I don't tow. One thing they do provide is lots of humerous posts.

Win win for the dealers twice as much to go wrong. Four rubber bags to sell every five years.
They actually much improved the reliability of the bags on the d3 and newer, rarely need changing. But then again how often do the d2 ones need doing.. quality bags and your looking at a good 7 years or more.. Mates 04 disco was sitting on original airbags untill a month ago.

I didn't mind too much replacing the bags and height sensors, or changing piston ring and dessicant on the compressor. But when the compressor finally went I wasn't going to spend £300 on a new one. Haven't missed it at all.

Don’t be quick to switch to coils, the air system is simple and easily fixable and that’s all aspects of it. Don’t be sent up the wrong path though with people banging on about the air bags leaking, yes they do leak but it’s not always the air bags. What exactly is happening ?
