I have removed my dash twice now once with the air bag in once with it out, both times to remove heater box(flaps sticking) its a lot easier if it is removed, it gives you a lot more room when working on the heater or the blend motor on the passenger side, remove glovebox, disconnect battery, wait 10 minutes then disconnect the wires running to the air bag, use a very thin screwdriver and push from the bottom of the veneer to where the inserts that hold it on are, if you measure from the door side they are approximately at 57mm,190mm,374mm and 495mm,gently leaver at these points and the veneer will start to come away, dont be afraid its pretty strong, just go along easing it up, undo the 4 bolts holding the air bag in and out it comes, keep the airbag upright while its stored, it does not take 10 minutes to do it and the amount of room it gives you is astounding ,when refitting I put some masking tape on the dash and marked where the holes where so that I knew where to push on the veneer when reinstalling it
