Hi all I need to remove the airbag from my disco1. Does anybody know what tool/bit is required to undo the two screws on the back of the steering wheel so I can remove the air bag.

Regards fozzie.

Resistorx security bit for the size of screw is all need, not sure maybe M5 maybe not, anyway you may be able to tap it with a small chisel to start it off and then undo by hand.

It's just 2 torn bit screws that hold the centre of steering wheel on.and when you remove it you will see your airbag with a yellow wire going to it.i took mine off last week to straighten the steering wheel.but I was very careful of the yellow wire because someone once said if u cut it or disconnect it, it may go off anyway when I took the airbag out there is a press stud electric fitting that holds the yellow wire to the airbag and it did come in connected I crapped it thinking here go BOOM but it didn't.
I thought I will just connect it completely, but the srs dash light came on.so I bridged the yellow wire connector and it still came up with srs.so I just put it back in.

You're suppose to disconnect your battery before playing with airbags. That's what they say, anyway.
I always do for safety reasons, I don't fancy a broken nose.

Cheers I got some torx bits I will take it off. I have to replace the rotary coupling as I disconnected the steering box and I didn't realise there was 15 feet of electronic ribbon that snapped when I spun the steering wheel and reconnected. They say leave the battery disconnected for 20 mins before removal.
Fozzie.
