hey guys

right p38 4.0 1995
i have changed the thermostat, the pump and done the head gaskets, theres plenty of resistance from the fan, all ive got left is the radiator which comes next week. ive blasted my old rad through with compressed air, but it still over heats. also my electric fans dont come on with the air con on!?!?!?!

the cars fine for the first 20mins of driving after that the gauge starts climbing so all i can think of is the rad, its annouying as i need to do a couple of longer distance trips.

any ideas i havent thought of????

ive looked through past posts and hope its not the block!!!!!!

Its easy to overlook the simple things........Expansion tank cap. If its not holding pressure then you are going to boil up.

the cap is holding pressure, when its hot and you crack the cap you get the normal hiss.

thanks for the idea though.
ive heard of problems with the expansion tank?
is this true

Normally the electric fans come on for two reasons. high pressure in the aircon system and high radiator temperature.

If your fans are not coming on check the rad temp switch/wiring or the fans fuse.

Air pocket? Is there a special way to burp the cooling systems on these cars?

Hello Brad, Try adapting my RV8 process to your car. The geometry may be different but the principles should easily apply.
