I need to get an independent assessment on my Landy for the purposes of an Agreed Value insurance policy. Can anyone suggest who I can go to? (I live in Gloucestershire but am prepared to travel if need be).
Thanks.

I did not have to get an independent valuation. I am insured with Admiral. They asked me what I considered the value and to send them photos of my 90 from all sides, one of the interior and one of the engine bay. They "agreed" with my value and that was that !! I made sure I was happy with my value though ;)

Thanks for your reply. Is yours a standard model though? Mine is a complete rebuild with a lot of modifications which means in terms of value it’s considerably more expensive than a standard one.

1989 90 with Full set of Boost alloys, under body protection, rock sliders, snorkel, Subaru seats, 200tdi Disco engine and gearbox......and loads of minor and planned other bits. So no, not standard.

We used a local "inde" who does restorations and also sells a small number of vehicles - he was thus qualified to comment on a replacement cost for ins purposes...

Their is an institute of valuers - and they might be able to recommend an experienced vehicle valuer in your area.....

I've dealt with afew motorcycle valuations over the years in the trade, definitely take it to a place the deals with resto jobs so they know the work and expense that goes into it, I'd imagine most main dealers would just throw an average book price at you. I'd also phone ahead and ask them nicely, agreed valuations take time from their day with absolutely no pay off. Some will do it via email with pics etc so it might be worth trying that before you travel.
