Pretty sure they are charged in a different way. I know my car has a 'smart' charging system that modified output depending if it's agm or not and also the AH of the battery. My car also learns the health of the battery over time and modifies output accordingly. Putting a new battery in place of and old one and it will over cook if it's not told.
I expect all newer vehicles have a similar system
If that is true, it's more fecking overcomplicated madness. I used to fit smart chargers in yachts, they didn't need any kind of reset when the batteries were changed. They did monitor battery and alternator temperatures during the fast charge phase for safety, nothing else was needed to stop the batteries cooking.

I'm not sure about land rover but I know my car is like this so just going off my own experience and making assumptions along the way
You're right, far too technical than necessary, at first glance

I can confirm that there is a setting where you tell it new battery fitted, used IID Gap, we are now on our 3rd battery.
But we are assuming battery recall was 1.
Think this was introduced in 2009/2010?
What happens if you don’t do it? I have no idea.

Thanks m8, checked their site and can only see lead acid ,my charge rate will cook one.
the Hankook MF31-1000 specification below:-
  • Advanced calcium lead alloy reduces the battery’s water consumption to a minimum.
  • Thicker plate design with grid protection technology resists the damaging effects of vibration, delivering more cyclic stability than other batteries.
  • High performance polyethylene separator with fleece specially designed for heavy duty batteries.
  • Labyrinth double lid with flame arrestor provides complete safety.
  • Increased starting power compared with standard batteries.
I don't know what you were looking at.

I was looking at the site that Dopey posted the link for Kieth. ;)

Hi

How do you tell the truck it’s got a new battery?

I’m having various problems and recently put an AGM battery on her

She runs for two weeks and then I get havoc for a few days and then she won’t start?

There’s various views on whether AGM is compatible with the L322

Mines a 2008 3.6

Thanks

As far as I can determine, AGM batteries are not compatible with the charging voltage on any modern car with a standard alternator charging at between 14.2 & 14.8 volts, yours may even be charging at 15.8 volts when first starting.
A standard Lead/Calcium battery does the job, will last 7 or 8 years and is cheaper.
