DVLA still handed the new owner of my stolen series 3 the v5 even though I told them it was stolen.

Should have taken legal action AGAINST the DVLA :)

One thing I did notice was chassis number for V5 was incomplete and missing digits!!

Have you contacted the police yet? How did the police get your number? The V5 doesn't have a phone number linked to it, etc...

I'd still be wondering where they got your number from, and wanting proof it was from a valid source before handing over vehicle ID information.
Anyone can ring somone and claim to be PC XYZ from wherevever (even down to spoofing caller ID)

also, I dunno where you're based, but we have the DVLA, the DVA is Northern Ireland

I'm in Northern Ireland. When you submit your request for V5 you have the option to add a number to the record so if there is any problems with the car they can contact you quickly.

DVLA and V5 have nothing to do with ownership, just raking in tax and any fines due, they would rather have a dodgy car they can get money from than one missing that they cant:mad:
Mod's can we ave a cynical emoticon pleez?

Ok so took the industrial paint stripper to my lovely painted chassis and I now have a new love for the MOD.

It's there top of the dumb iron in a badly lined up line clear as day under about 20 layers of paint. I'm now a very very happy boy. It has the suffix that is not on the vin plate or V5 but is on the military data card. This is now 100% proof that the chassis number and reg belong to me and that the other person has stolen it from my Landy.

I certainly will. But if it is anything other than his going to the impound I will not be happy.

IM glad you are getting there with it! Im rebuilding an FFR as well and would be pretty ****ed if someone tried to nick its ID!

Can I ask how you git the info from the MOD as I have been trying to find the contact info out for them with no luck.

It's really easy. If you have the ERM number it's £35 if not they can search by chassis for and extra £10. It took them about 2 hours to find my ERM and then it is instant.

Thought i would let you all know its mine :):):):):). Had police inspector out(proper cop in marked rangie and gun) Said when he arrived he didnt know if it belonged to me but was pretty sure it didnt belong to the other guy. Showed him my chassis number and he was happy to say then that it belonged to me. Turns out the other guy had it on a late model S3!! servo brakes and everything so i belive that is post 75? Now just to wait for the DVA to get back to me. Although cop did say I can go ahead and use plates from now.

Great news I bet that's a big relief

well if you have found that out, then get your axle numbers, stamped on front or top of axle, gearbox number, you can usaly see this from top of seat box, and the reg, and type it into dvla website, and it will come up with the vehicle details, this will get him! my 109 has no documents, all i have is a letter from dvla for the vic test, but i went on website and printed off the details! and if its tax exempt witch being a 2a it will be, thats why he has your vin plate and number plates! he dont wanna pay tax! fell sorry for the landy tho! :(
