can anyone help me with age related plates as i have a 1963 series 2a ex military and they road registered the vehicle in 1972.The landy is still tax free but i was told that i can get the vehicle age related plates for 1963.I would like to do this if possible as elite plates have offered me £450 for mine and i would sell but only if registered for 1963.is it possible?

don't think you'll be able to sell your's and get an age related plate. DVLA been the thieving fookers they are will probably want your old plates to sell on themselves.

Hi,

Have you actually been offered £450 for your plates, or have you been told that they are WORTH £450, and they will sell them for you?

I'm pretty sure that you can sell your plates AND get a 1963 reg number. In fact DVLA SO NOT WANT your truck to have plates that make it look newer than it really is. But what plates will they give you, 1963 was an awkward year (I think). You might get
999XXX, or, AAA999A Would you want an A suffix?

But timing may be difficult. You will need to persuade DVLA that you should have age related plates, then synchronise getting them with selling your old plates. Not impossible.

what is so special about your old plates?

my 69 lightweight was on a W suffix and I went to the Local DVLA office and got it changed for the G suffix it is on now.

I would imagine its the 1963 number they are after.

The process for obtaining age related plates is easy. You will need to prove to the DVLA that the vehicle was made in 63. So best to get a cert from these guys: Heritage Certificates - A certified copy of the build record for your vintage vehicle. - Heritage Motor Centre Online Shop

once you have this take it along with all your vehicle docs and they change it there and then for NO FEE! I nearly fell off my chair.
