aye, there aint much wot sounds nicer than a V8 (cept a V16 Merlin, or a V Twin Harley).
 
I'll be honest, I recently had a rangey with a lpg conversion over the pit with entire exhaust off and fired it up, i nearly dropped me yoghurt.

In all honesty, I've driven both petrol and diesel. I just love the V8 auto off road.
If I was regularly wading I'd probably go for a diesel, a GMC V8 diesel.
Lots of WD40 will do for now...
 
My 200tdi sounded rather nice when it lost its middle section of exhaust...
 
There's a tratta round ear wiv a v8 doozel Perkins (out of a lorry) and straight 3" pipes.
That sounds nice too.
 
When we were at our local site with Boggle's V8 i have to say it did sound like music to me ears but it did conk out rather a lot when he pointed it near the wet stuff - and Trewey's diesel was definitely the driving force when it came to towing people out! :D:D
