Right starting tomorrow ill be swapping all my running gear and other stuff into a bare body on a chassis!

whats the best advice for lifting the engine out? Bring it out with gearbox and transfer box intact or not? And how has everyone lifted the engine high enough to miss the front panel on the body?

thanks

Split them off, yes a bit more work but it's not such a massive cumbersome lump to try and move around.

Would i be able to pull it out as one if i cut the entire front end off the disco or is it still worth splitting. Also whats best way for top 3 bolts?

My very ordinary engine crane was fully capable of lifting the engine clear :
But...would definitely remove gearbox before trying to lift the engine. Up to you whether you split the transfer box off as well.
:)

I used a mini loader to strip the V8 autobox and transfer box out of a Disco in one piece, no, I won't be doing that again, heavy and cumbersome with it all in one piece and that was with the whole body off it.

The key problem you will have is trying to get the gear shifts under the tunnel and it all coming out without struggling.

Far easier to undo the 12 bolts on the bell housing and split the box off the engine.
