I have recently bought a disco 2 td5 gs model, Was told when I bought it that it was a 7 seat model but that the previous owner had removed the rear seats. Have justbeen and collected the rear seats and replacement side panels but there are no seat belts with them and they look as though they are meant to locate in some kind of lock in the center of the boot but i can see no evidence of this mecanism. Also I seem to recall that 7 seaters have head rests that lower from the roof.

I am thinking that I have been had over!!! Could any of you send me a pic of how the seats should look and where the seat belts should run. If mine is in fact only a 5 seat model is there any problems converting to 7??

Also with the price of diesel I am interested in using veg oil. Any advice that can be given on this would also be much appreciated.

Thanks all in advance.

Lots of stuff on veg oil - do a search! 50% Bio-diesel is fine. Opinions differ on veg oil but my feeling is - not in a TD5.

Either:good
A/ A previous owner did an exceptionally thorough job of removing the rear seats (change the headlining and floor, I don't think so!)
B/ A previous owner wanted to turn a 5 seater to a 7 seater, bought the seats on E-bay, then found he needed a lot more bits so decided to move the vehicle on.
Either way it looks as if you've been done. You could try and return the motor and get your money back, but I suspect you'll have to put it down to experienece.
What type of rear suspension have you got?

Apparently that's the key element, if there's no rear air suspension then it was 5 seater from new !! Unless he changed the suspension as well !!

I have air suspension and ace. I do aggree that it looks like I have been kipperd. Just need to decide whether to sell the disco on and buy another or to try and do myself but sounds like a lot of work with headlining etc. Really pi**ed of as I am well impressed with the vehicle except for lack of seats. Anyone want to buy one of the kids of me lol :D

ACE is unusual, but not unknown, on a 7 seater, so sorry, doesn't look like good news.

Glad you've got you priorities right, you might have better luck on e-bay to pass on one of the kids.

Ace was only fitted to 5 seaters because of some weird EU safety rules. There are apparently a few 7 seaters with ace fitted but no one seems to know how or why ACE was fitted to them.

ACE was fitted to all series 2 discoveries both 5 and 7 seat as an optional extra, so some will have it some won't. The higher spec models were fitted with it as standard. I have the ES and it is fitted as standard.

Sorry your right, It was air suspension that was compulsory on all 7 seaters in the EU. 5 seaters could have spring coil or air suspension fitted..
