I recently brough my first range rover:), a 4.0L p38 and im loving the experice.
Looking for any advice on getting it converted to LPG from places to go and wwhat to get, i am hoping to take a trip round france and maybe italy in her so reliability is an issue.
Any help would be great.
 
I've used HKL Gaspower in Birmingham - very good people to deal with - very experienced - and only stock good kit - in particular their multipoint systems - highly reccomended on all modern cars.

Generally with LPG systems, you do get what you pay for - anyone who tells you they can fit a system in a day for a silly low price - I'd treat carefully.

There are installation/setup snags - the system does need some setup time, and needs to be started from cold to do this.

Go to someone that comes reccomended - and has done this conversion before. HKL were the only people who would take on my 235 BHP 2.3 Turbo Saab, and my mate's V280 merc - both cars that we were told couldn't be done. Both are running nicely several years later.

LPG will find any holes in your ignition system. If it's got a bit of a misfire on petrol - then it'll misfire on LPG. LPG is harder to ignite. Make sure the ignition is in tip-top condition before conversion.

You will lose a small amount of power on LPG only. It displaces some of the air in the air/fuel mix - effectively reducing the cubic capacity of the engine.
(I compensate by having a big engine)

You can always switch back over if you really want the top end of the power.

You will also get slightly less MPG from LPG since it has a lower calorific value.

You can advance the ignition for use on LPG only - take care when on petrol though.

Cooling system has to be up to scratch, LPG runs slightly hotter - some people fit a cooler spark plug - I've never found that I need to.

The engine will run a lot cleaner - oil comes out cleaner, and the plugs last longer - also, I find that low RPM running seems better - smoother and more torquey - especially in the Saab.

Get as big a tank as you can - range is everything with LPG - there are not as many LPG stations as petrol.

Go for it, and enjoy diesel running costs - and petrol smoothness and performance.
 
The only REAL downside I have found with LPG is how looong it takes to fill the tank - I have an 80ltr tank and putting 70ltrs in I can watch two normal cars fill their tank....

Put your location on, then maybe someone can recommend a closer company for you...
 
Yeah, dun't it take a feckin age to fill. Wish you could lock those little bastard buttons down. I feel a bit of a pratt leaning against a big white box for five minutes while other people come & go!

just coz yu got air con and lecky bits - delusions of grandeur, eh? ;)

I don't look at what section it is down the side of LZ live, but then found meself in here & got scared!

Int likely to happen with the Gaylander bit cuz I dun't know anything about leather armrests or consensual, same sex soddomy.

If its an LPG pump with the flush(ish) fitting red button, jam a credit card between the casing and the button, always worked for me and great when it rained - I stayed dry;)
