Hi can anybody give me any info on G90 tyres ,are the noisy on the road and what are they like off road they are going on a discovery 300 tdi .
Thanks

I've used them on military land rovers, and while the michelin xzl's are fantastic, I was told by the off road driving instructor I had, that the g90's are the cross country tyres (XZLs for road/AT). I didn't notice any real difference personally between the two, but if what I was told was correct, then I'm guessing the g90s are at least a fair bit better off road, otherwise the army wouldn't bother buying them. As for road noise, I have no idea, since military landrovers are ridiculously noisy anyway.

Thanks for that it's just what I was thinking ,if the military use them they must be good ,G90's it is then .

not bad tyres but not the best in the wet on tarmac, then again that could be said of many mud biased tyres as well....... i liked em and they wore very well and would buy again if ever in the market for a standard width tyre

cheers steve

Ive got G90's on my 110, had them for about 6yrs.
Brilliant off road, ive never got stuck.
Noisy though.

In the wet?, never had any problems.
I just put 2 new ones on the front, the spare and a brand new one(£127 fitted).
I reckon they have done about 12000 miles, so not brilliant as far as wear is concerned.

Id swerve em. The g90s are noisey on road and not good enough on road or off. The xzl's are far better for both. The army has g90s but put xzl on anything winterized and increasingly anything else. I would have the xzl's peronally, not too loud even at high speed;) and good grip on and off road. The g90 pattern is too wide and open to be too good. Ive definately been stuck with g90's.

We have them our military defender, cant hear any noise unless you turn engine off and cruise and there just as loud as normal AT tires, seem quite sticky while off roading.
