Hi all.
Just another quick one as I'm sure one of you will have the answer.
Bought a second hand pair of genuine Land Rover Side steps for my 1998, P38. They came with the original brackets and fixing bolts.
I had a look underneath mine and the braclets on the side steps all line up to those factory drilled in my chassis. Now am I having a dum moment because how the hell do you attach the nuts as where the holes are drilled it's a sealed box section. I guess there is some special type of nut that is used. Does anybody know what type it is and where I can buy them I require 8 in total.:)

Brilliant thanks James.
Just for the record with these nuts is a special tool required something similar to a rivit gun?

Standard M8 rivnuts won't fit the holes properly in the chassis, the holes are too big. Plus there isn't room to fit them with a rivnut tool. I attempted to fit some using a 10 inch flat piece of steel with a hole and a nut and bolt, as per the proper LR side step fitting instructions. The rivnuts were a very bad fit and a bit of a tug they came out, after struggling for hours to fit them. I ended up getting some "proper" rivnuts of the type originally suppled by LR from some guy on eBay (now no longer a registered user for some reason). Rip-off price of £30 for 8, but they fitted a treat. I have no idea where he got them, nor where I could source more. They don't crush like rivnuts, but telescope into themselves thus expanding their diameter.

Unfortunately ALAN C is spot on. I don't know any more than he has already said but it's unfortunately true that the rivnuts that I bought didn't fit and I was another ebay buyer.

I am looking for a solution on this so please excuse the bump.
Will have a look through ebay and report back but if anyone has recent advice it would be appreciated.

I opened the holes slightly till a m10 fit in (with a good tw@t from a weighted stick! Aka hammer)
But dont hit the rivnut cos you could bend it half in the hole! Put a bolt in finger tight and hit that!
Does it show I learnt that the hard way?
